Over 60 attend a Mental Health Conversation at the Penrose Library in downtown Colorado Springs, July 20. Mental Health Colorado (MHCO) hosted a two-hour dialogue about the current state of mental health care in Colorado, with emphasis on context, perspective, survey results, discussion and solutions.

MHCO President and CEO Andrew Romanoff led the discussion, stating that over a half million of the 5 million Coloradans are not receiving behavioral health/substance use care.  Mental health parity

Providers, advocates and those affected by mental health attended this public forum. Some of the top barriers to mental health care are uninsured, high costs, insurance coverage issues, stigma and employer stigma.

AspenPointe’s Chief Operating Officer Susan Seiler provided insight to its care access and insurance/payment options. The 24/7 no-payment Crisis Stabilization Unit, mobile Crisis Response Team and Mental Health First Aid training were highlighted as well.
