Early Childhood Specialist
The Early Child Care Specialist provides consultation to educators and child care workers regarding young children with significant behavioral issues.Consultation can include information about environmental cues, family engagement, infant mental health and child developmental stages to support the learning/chilcare environment.
Children in classroom settings need to have every opportunity to develop prosocial and emotional skills. Sometimes, children are receiving instruction in environments that may trigger behaviors that foster lack of attention skills, etc. The Child Care Consultant provides consultation to educators about environmental cues, family engagement and infant mental health developmental stages to support the learning environment.
Child Care Consultation consists of consultants trained in development and behavior assessment who assist child care providers and families in planning and implementing interventions for a child to succeed in a child care setting.
Eligibility Criteria:
Children ages 0-5. Child must be in a preschool, childcare or Head Start setting. Behavioral issues with child must be significant; the child may be at risk for being removed from the setting or the child may need support to return to a setting from which she/he has been removed.
