Seeking Federal Funds for Affordable Housing

Posted 06/29/2009

A pressing problem for El Paso County is the dearth of affordable housing for low-income individuals and families.

Pikes Peak Behavioral Health Group (specifically, Aspen Diversified Industries Services or ADIS) is asking for funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a project aimed at purchasing six multi-family developments easily accessible to Fort Carson and other southeast-area bases and businesses.

The scope of the project includes renovating the properties to create low- and middle-income family rental housing as well as job opportunities for wounded warriors and disadvantaged individuals.

The developments will be renovated over a three-year period. After renovation, the housing units will be rented to families.
