#1N4 Americans Has A Mental Illness
One in four Americans has a mental illness. That’s #1N4. This is our relatives, our neighbors, fellow students or coworkers. 50 percent of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14 and 75 percent by the age of 24 according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Colorado nationally ranks second in prescription drug abuse. One in five Colorado adult drinks heavily. In Colorado, half of a million persons needing mental health care are not receiving care. 40 percent of Coloradans are not comfortable in talking about their behavioral health situation due to stigma.
AspenPointe’s Crisis Stabilization Unit averages over 400 visits a month. More than 1,600 youth in the Pikes Peak region have used crisis services since December 2014.
