We instruct students who are committed to a career in culinary arts, and help them achieve their potential with individualized instruction from a professional staff with years of experience in restaurants, catering and dining facilities. Students will acquire the foundational knowledge and skills of cooking and/or baking, sensory awareness and teamwork needed to work with competence and professionalism in a commercial kitchen or in a related culinary field.
The curriculum includes four tiers of study plus optional community internship. It involves a minimum of book/lecture instruction with maximum hands-on coaching and experience. Unlike many Cooking Schools, our students work side-by-side with seasoned, skilled food service professionals trained to work with students in an actual food service restaurant and catering business.
TRAINING IS FREE to MEDICAID ELIGIBLE. If you wonder whether you qualify or need help signing up for Medicaid we provide enrollment assistance.
Strong Performers can qualify for a Paid Internship. Upon successful completion of training, trainees will be considered for hire by DoubleTree by Hilton Colorado Springs.
Employment Supportmeans finding the right jobs for our students and continuing to work with them after they've graduated to ensure that they retain their jobs in all sectors of the food service industry. Critical to its organizational plan, AspenPointe Cafe is a Model Member of Catalyst Kitchens; a nationwide network of non-profits working to build and sustain communities rooted in social enterprise and food service-based training. AspenPointe Cafe remains an independent agency implementing our own innovative programs but benefits from Catalyst Kitchens' ongoing oversight and accreditation, shared resources and benefits including sponsorships and services.
AspenPointe has empowered clients, enriched lives and embraced purpose through behavioral health services, counseling services, career services, substance abuse treatment, employment, education, housing, jail diversion/reintegration and care management.
One of the largest nonprofits in Colorado Springs, AspenPointe traces its roots back to 1875 when we were called the Springs Relief Society. That organization, which delivered coal, lumber and clothing to the needy, was the genesis of what today is a comprehensive and integrated system of care that addresses the overall wellness of each client whether they need behavioral health services, counseling services or career services.
We have 12 organizations that serve more than 30,000 individuals and families each year through behavioral health services, counseling services, career services, education, housing, jail diversion/reintegration, telephonic wellness and care management.
We collaborate with clergy, educators, employers, other health and human service agencies, the legal/criminal justice system, other behavioral health providers, insurers, and many other organizations to leverage our collective resources in order to better our communities and the lives of its residents.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded largely by Medicaid, state and federal grants, local government contracts, and generous donations.
